About Patrick County

Patrick County is located in the heart of Southside and southwest Virginia, with its county seat in Stuart, Virginia. According to the 2020 census, the population was 17,608. The racial makeup of the County was 91% White, 5.9% Black or African American, and 2.4% Hispanic or Latino with the remaining percentage being made up of Native Americans at 0.30% and Asians at 0.20%. Patrick County is one of the great tourist regions in Virginia, with the county having one of Virginia’s seven remaining covered bridges, which rises from nine hundred feet, to well over 3,000 feet providing panoramic views of the area. The county also hosts the longest running beach festivals on the East Coast. Family friendly, the county has seven public schools, four for grades K-7, one for grades K-3, one for grades 4-7 and Patrick County High School for grades 8-12.
